Amber’s Birthday Hike
After spending a few days earlier this week with the kickoff of the annual Big O Hike, I was out and about with my niece Amber today, who’s celebrating her 11th birthday.
Together with Rob and Dad, we explored the Johnson Pond Trail and found the Big Cypress hidden deep in Goethe State Forest near Dunnellon. It was a beautiful day for a hike!
Here’s Amber with a heart-shaped piece of deer moss she found in the rosemary scrub. See sketches from the hike on Rob’s blog.
Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula
My trip to Isle Royale, one of America’s most remote National Parks, and to the Copper Country of Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula is currently chronicled at the Ocala Star Banner online.
